911TS to 911rsr

Hi gents , i purchused this 911 T with S engine approx 3 weeks ago , it was listed here as a what is this worth thread but now needs a 911rsr build thread i feel.

Ex usa 911T body with S engine fitted with turbo style metal guards and 16inch 8and 9 fuchs.

This had a turbo rear wing on a pre 70 deck lid plus sc mirrors . Later stlye rs front and rear bumpers .

As i am very much a pre 74 guy and love porsche race cars , the car is heading back to a 73 rsr stying .

why not see if a concours person has the body to match the S motor - that could fund your build

Woohoo!

I was just sitting here wishing for another project to watch!

I love updated early cars because they avoided the junk yard long enough to be backdated another day.

One the interesting things that i am trying to figure out is the history of the car . The car came from the usa 19 years ago and what makes this interesting is although this has a T body the car has S everything .

All the gauges , running gear , brakes , gearbox ...are all S 73 gear . So what happened ? Did someone with a S prang it and due to the cost found a T body to swap everything accross ? Or , as the seller advised , the car was an ex race car and was built from bits ? Seems like theres alot of S gear just to be built from bits

You could not get the S brakes on a T but all the S trim/guages/5 speed were very popular options in the USA.

I'm not all too sure.
My 71 911T has the S-trim and koni shocks and they are both specified in the COA. All looks pretty original, and the struts for the koni's are the wide ones equipped with the alloy calipers. So my guess is that if You were buying the "koni shocks" option You may as well get the S-calipers. That's unless someone changed the struts in my car mantaining the original Koni shocks and sourcing koni struts for S calipers.
However, I've got a bunch of old invoices back from the 70's, and whenever they were changing pads they were using the ones for the S-calipers, so my guess is that the car came out from the dealer that way.

Wow, congrats on your new project. Man, you're off to the races and making good progress for three weeks! Can't wait to follow along (while my Elephant Racing parts sit around waiting for my collar bone to knit... I'm living vicariously through my Pelican friends during the mend!) So trust me when I say that I appreciate watching progress on your project!

Cheers and good luck,

- Craig_D
