Gentlemen,
Why does the car need the CDI to run? Could you not just add condenser and pull power from the line running to the CDI? Please let me know your thoughts on this.

By the way new CDI Bosch $ 1,350.00/ rebuilt box $ 600.00.
Thanks,
Tom

MSD6AL + BlasterII is an inexpensive alternative.
The CDI is how it was designed for precise high energy ignition control.
I'm sure you could jury rig a condensor points system, but why go backwards in design to the 60's? Where would you mount a condensor in your dizzy?

No fire. Maybe some intermittent spark. Where do I go from here? Points and rotor look good.

Ordered the msd and going to get it right. Really learned a lot about my first Porsche over the past few days. Replaced the shifter bushings while motor down now I know why it was so sloppy. Basically NO bushings left. Thanks again for all the help! SmileWavy

By the way is the old Perma Tune box worth anything?

I won't even keep a good working 'Permadoom' as a spare or back-up unit. What more for an old tired unit? Someone might buy it to cover the shipping and handling expenses. But don't throw it out to the dumpster.

In my case the red relay was loose and not making good contact... I expanded the tips and it went in nice and tight and the car started without isses... This of course, was after replacing injectors, fuel pump, and almost taking the engine out!

KISS

Another time I thought it was the CDI... Got an MSD... Sent the CDI out for repair and they told me it was fine....turned out to be a bad coil, so stock CDI went back in, repleced the coil and car ran fine... MSD new inthe box, maybe to be used in the future....

KISS

So check the basic stuff before pouring money in parts...
