Jack Tie Down Strap

Hi! I have a 1980 911 SC. I was looking to better understand where/How the jack should be mounted to the body for a stock configuration.. which I certainly don't have.. the PO just wrapped it in a towel and wedged it by the spare... Is the strap available on the pelican site? I haven't been able to locate it....

Thanks

J

Here are some part numbers from PET.

911.722.021.01 for the rubber strap (Porsche calls this a bracket)

911.721.131.00 rubber wedge (Porsche calls this a clamping piece)

Jack stores horizontal on the back side of the front bulkhead. There is a shelf to the left side and a metal piece that catches the base of the jack. The wedge sits here. The jack lays on top of a tab about the centerline of the car and the rubber strap keeps it in place. On my car the jack installs with the handle facing rearward.

The part I believe you're thinking of is a "auto jack bracket" 911-722-021-01. Pelican lists it at $47.00 but is Porsche OEM. Never ordered one, but...

It fits into a small crevis under the front ledge of the hood forward of the spare tire against the vertical portion of trunk area. I believe it's a small rubber strip with two metal loops - pricey piece of rubber.

For $47 I think I could be content with a suitable rubber o-ring holding my jack in place.

FWIW a lot of ATVs and MCs have a similar strap holding in a small tool kit. Might be worth a trip to a mototcycle shop.

ETA: Ebay link...sorry Pelican.

Like Jar says, two of my ATV's have similar rubber straps ... definitely check out a bike shop,i'm sure they are way less than $47.00 dollars !

Cheers !

Can someone provide the length of this rubber strap? I'm sure one of the motorcycle battery straps will work.

Mine measures 6" outside edge of clip to outside edge of clip. Rubber strap measures 3.5" at the clip attachment points. Very little stretch to get it attached. (E.g. you could go shorter if the strap has plenty of stretch.)

Thank you. I ordered a 5" battery strap for less than $5. Time will tell if it works. Thanks to the OP for bringing this topic up. I've only had my 911SC for two months and had wondered where the jack was supposed to mount.

Im pretty sure i still have that thing attached to my race car, though i have no idea what condition it is in. Ping me the first weekend in december (next time i'll have the car out of storage) and i'll pull it off gratis for you if you want it.
