Why one should wash the P-Car after use
Because one could break his back in a dirt-bike accident and not only have to suffer the pain of healing from the injury, but the pain of not driving the 911 and even worse, looking at it filthy in the garage the whole time... Grrr.
I launched myself into a tree at 40+mph on my dirt bike 4 hours from the hospital earlier this week. Thankfully there should be no permanent damage; just a long road to full recovery. I had driven the Porsche in the rain to Denver a couple of times just before the fateful trip, so I didn't have time to wash it... Figured I'd do it after our fall dirt bike riding trip. Notsomuch... My son said he'd get it backed out of the garage this week and wash it for me tho. I fear the 911 will be the last of our cars I will be able to tolerate sitting in with my back which really sucks because it's the first one I want to drive when I am able to do so again! |
Sorry to hear about the accident! I hope you recover quickly. The 911 will wait patiently for you... For me, it is cool enough simply knowing mine in the garage.

Good to know you're going to be OK.
The car will look good after your son cleans it up. Waiting to drive sucks, I had a hip resurfacing 3 years ago due to an old hockey injury and couldn't use a clutch for a long time... Works good now! :) You'll be there sooner than you think! |
As a fellow rider thats so terrible to hear! Hope the recovery goes well!

You are one lucky duck. Seriously.

Very lucky. I really thought I was going to die. And when I came to I was sure I was going to be paralyzed... It was a freak accident on a nice straight stretch of trail. A branch on the trail kicked up into my chain and locked up the rear tire causing me to slide into the woods at 40 mph.... Worse part is one of our good riding buddies was killed in a similar accident just over a month ago. Way too soon. We figured Pauly wasn't ready for a drinking buddy yet!

I have confidence that your Porsche will offer a driving position that will accommodate your back. Good luck on the mend and thank the stars it wasn't worse. You live to drive again!

Having a wrecked back is no fun. Twenty five years of experience has taught me that there are no seats more comfortable for a hurt back than those in the Porsche 911. Sitting in a 911 seat is therapeutic. Try it versus your other cars. You will be surprised. My 911 is the only car I can tolerate for a long trip. The others hurt way too much. Now... should I go out and ride the Bultaco or the Norton?

My back is pretty messed up from years of bike riding and a few accidents along the way, the 911 seats for me' are a firm but comfortable place to be. Hope you get well and recover soon.SmileWavy Anthony. |
So back to driving and the Porsche is by far the most comfortable. The worst is my son's WRX. I can't even tolerate the two mile drive to the store.... Next is my wife's Excursion. I think because I sit too upright in it. My Rover sedan is ok, but the low sitting position of the Porsche is the best! Who would have thought.... I took it on a five-hour round trip drive to the Air Force Academy and was fine. Boy did it smoke after sitting for weeks and the oil leaking onto the heat exchangers. Looked like a Cheech and Chong movie! These cars certainly don't like to sit.

Glad you're back on the road (no pun intended).
