Door Stays 1.5"

Just had a maddening day in the garage working on my "73 911 restoration project. The final straw was the discovery that my door stays are the 1.5" design.

After reading through the archives, I'm still confused on the best way to go. It sounds like I can use the early 1.5" design for 65 thru 69 cars, but that it will be cheesy because the fingers are female and the mounting is also female. Or, should I try to get used door stops from a wrecking yard. Dealer item? Any suggestions?

My car is a Euro model, and I'm wondering if that's the reason why they are the 1.5" style.
