Custom throttle linkage

I have a '67 912 with stock 5 speed 901 trans, and '74 2.7L engine which was set up with Webers when I bought it but I converted to the Bitz Racing EFI.

The throttle link from the trans mounted bell crank to the one on the engine is now about an inch too short.

Any thoughts on how to source one that will fit?

John,

Could you get a length of threaded rod and a coupler to make the ball end longer?

Take exact measurements and go see a welder, sleeve and extend the rod to the needed length then braze it,

Hope this helps , Lou

Does the throttle rod have to be bent like that, on my 72 it's straight, can you heat and straighten it out, or is it bent because of the half shaft? How about removing the ball joint, adding a screw on extension with a stud that will screw into extension, and allows the ball joint to screw on to stud thus enabling you to adjust the length? Am I making sense? Or weld a piece in like stated above.
That's quite a setup you have, very cool, post pic of motor.

Was the motor in the car and running before you converted to the tbiz fuel injection system?
If it was then nothing should have changed.
Richard.

Use a Sporto linkage. It has a "bigger" curve in in which you pull straight and get more length.

Here is a picture of how I modified mine to fit. I cut it with a tube cutter, placed the two ends on their respective mounts and measured the gap between the two cut ends. I found a length of tube with similar dimensions at my local hardware store.

It appears to be bent to avoid the half-shaft. A screw on extension is a good idea.

It was running, but with Webers, so the throttle connection point at the engine was in a different place.

Good idea. I will try that too. Don't guess these things come from a supplier...

This is the set up with Bitz EFI...I installed a "goingsuperfast.com" pulley and tone wheel for future upgrade to EDIS.

This is how I solved it, in case there is interest...

Cut the rod and threaded it with 10-24 to accept connecting nuts and then cut a long 10-24 screw to fit the length needed. 10-24 OD is .25mm larger than the M5 rod, so worked well and more available.

My yellow [race] car is too much of a lowrider......it doesn't get on the street unless it is inside the trailer.
