Phoenix Sunday Drive Pics.

Well that was my first PCA/Sunday drive experience and I really enjoyed myself. There where a few Pelican heads who went on the drive and we all had a great time. Lee again, thank you for putting this together, it was great. I am looking forward to a Pelican Only Sunday drive someday soon. That way there are not as many cars on the road to get in our way! Here are a few pics that we took, it was hard to get all the Pelican's together in one shot since there were Porsche's EVERYWHERE!

Richards White 930 Lee's White Targa

Lime Green 914?? Kinda stood out a little. And if I am not mistaken, the green car was the one who was the "leader"

Mark Chase 993TT (Wife's Boss you all helped with his 993/996 choice.)

From the Boxsters to the 928, alot of style's

Here are some more!

Joe

It was not all flat desert. We ended up going up to 5600 msl altitude and the turbo cars sure had the advantage.

Note the GPS in on the dash. You can barely make out the curves ahead on the screen and the digital speed readout is 80 plus...

What Joe doesn't mention is that the >80 MPH indicated was the lowest number that thing read all day! Richard blew my doors off more than once! I'd be cruising along at (I plead the 5th) MPH and then whoooosh... this white blur would streak by. I took the photos of Richard in my mirrors just for fun. He wasn't there long!

I'm not sure exactly how many Porsches there were. 25-30? 914s, 944s, 911s, 930s, 993s, 996s, Boxsters... you get the idea.

Objects in mirror are as fast as they appear!

I can't believe these came out!

There were some great roads on this trip. I'd like to shake the hand of the engineer who added the banks, dips, rises, etc. It was like a roller coaster!

Lee, now come on tell the truth, you LET me pass you just so you could have the photo opportunity. (SANDBAGGER)

Those are some great shots.

I cannot believe that you where driving with one hand and taking pictures with the other! WOW OR was it taking pictures with one hand, drinking a water with the other while changing the CD and driving with one knee.

I loved the 2 lane twisty road, you could go in hard and pass someone if you had the horsepower, or guts....

Next time we go out I will let you take her out for a quick spin.

The Porsche not my wife...lol.

Again, had a great time!

RJ,

Did you stop and help the driver of the red Turbo? Had lunch with him and he would like to say thanks if you are the person. Has had the car for six months and still debugging it...

BTW, the music that Lee provided rocked with the curves. Only downside were the two police cars that did not look amused to see 26 Porsches heading towards the twisties...

Joe,

Thanks for the message. Pulled off to help but then he just took off again. Was trying to find him during the stop, wanted to ask him about his exhaust. Did you get his email by any chance.

Richard,

What? Your car doesn't have the auto-pilot option? It's great for taking photos, lunch, etc. Thanks, but I don't think I'll be driving your car. That would be an expensive test drive. The "go" pedal in my car would feel broken afterwards. Should've bought the 930S I looked at. Even with the bad engine, it would still blow the doors off of my 3.2L.

Joe,

Glad you liked the tunes. I've been meaning to put all those songs together since we got the CD burner. This drive finally got me motivated. It certainly came in handy in the radio wasteland of northern AZ. Plus I think I was able to stay a little tighter on Richard through the turns thanks to the music. The first two were just to set the mood, but the rest were serious 30 MPH songs (ie before you know it you're going 30 MPH faster than you were before you plugged in the CD.

I came home solo via 89A through Jerome. Wow! That was a great road! I figured I spent enough time behind the wheel today that I could have made it to San Diego! No wonder I'm tired. It was a pretty intense day. Thanks for coming out to play. I'm off to dream about triple digits and hairpins!

Joe,

Pool fixed $8.00 for 2 orings and took about an hour.
Shoot me that email whenever you get time, no hurry at all

Lee,

Autopilot? Dang, I new I should have bought that from Wayne when he had them on sale.. now there unvailable.

As for the Jerome road.. that was one of my favorite roads when I had the scooter.

There are also a few nice rides thru globe, strawberry etc.

Lee,

"Pretty intense".... I warped one or both front brake rotors in the curves and mountains yesterday! Guess you could call it intense!

Course I was not really holding back either as I have two sets of brand new rotors in the garage now and will start working on the car this or next week in various areas...

I didn't think 911 rotors ever warped! I did two track events at Road Atlanta in my last 911 plus lot's of N. Georgia mountain driving and they never had any problems. Have the rotors been turned before?

So are we definitely going to the Pavillions on the 29th?

Lee, I understand having the toddler in tow. Maybe we can do it some other weekend, whatever suits you best.

But since you are a Pelican Head, I searched all over the web for something that would help you with this.

I have taken the liberty of ordering it for you but since I bought it at EBAY there are no instructions

Couple of wraps around the kid and attach to the passenger seat
and we should be able to head to the mountains again.

SMILE BUDDY!!!!!
