2.7 to 3.0 Swap : The 2.7 CIS on the 3.0

Thought I would run this by you guys. I have been checking out the car that I bought that is a '74 2.7 that was replaced with a '82 SC 3.0. It looks to be an OK job, but the guy put the entire 2.7 CIS setup from the '74 on the engine with the older 006 fuel distributor, etc. Was wondering if this makes any difference with this engine.

The 3.0 is still running the cat with the oxygen sensor disconnected. Obviously the Lamda system is inoperable because it's not even there with the 2.7 CIS setup.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I believe the earlier CIS is the same size runners as the smaller port 3.0 so shouldn't be a problem if it runs well.
I'd ditch the exhaust of the 3.0 and go to SSI's with a 2 in 1 out sport muffler and enjoy it. :)

Yes, that is great advice - I was surprised he still was running the stock exhaust on this thing, but then again it looks to me like he was trying to save some money.

I don't know how well it is running since I have not heard it run - believe it or not it had a bad dizzy and the last guy who had the car tried to put a '75 dizzy in there and wondered why it wouldn't go in. So I got the car with the '75 dizzy half out, well there you go...

New dizzy, new exhaust and either a Bitz kit or TBI injection?
Might as well do it right from the start!
What's another 4-5K! :)

i am planning on using the CIS off my 77 on my 3.0.

you need to find a throttle body off of a 3.0 CIS system, it is bigger, which BTW, is a nice little mod for the 2.7 CIS systems. wish i had dyno data to see results.

I have built 3.0 before, changing the distributor drive on the crank to the early or later drive so the 3 prong CD, distributor, and injection can be used, much duplication the 76/77 3.0 engine. This leads owners to a less expensive, more residual value power plant.
