My wife and I are planning on taking the 930 from the Seattle Area down the coast to Southern Ca. next month. Since this car is new to us and I have no experience with a 930 I need help, knowing what should I do to prep the car and what tools and spare parts should I carry? The car is bone stock with only 65k on the odometer.
Also I plan on taking 101 both down and back if anyone has any lodging or other suggestions suggestions I would appreciate any input.... Thanks Pat |

Pat,
My two cents, Highway 1 south of Monteray to Santa Barbara is a great road! Will take you a lot longer, but the drive and sites are spectacular! Got to do it once in a Porsche! have fun |

Pat, Hwy #1 right down the Coast is lovely, but expect lots of traffic this time of year.
As far as spares and tools; you can't take a whole workshop, so don't get too concerned. Be sure to take a spare fan belt (correct for your model), a fuel pump relay, a couple of quarts of the oil your motor likes (in case the brand is hard to find on the road), and the Factory tool kit that came with your car, and Owners Manual. Make sure your spare tire is usable (if you need the little compressor, make sure it workss, too). That's all you should need if your car is in good repair. Have a safe trip. ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website |

Is a routine service about due? If so, maybe have it done a bit early, tell your mechanic of your plans. If nothing else, a "pre trip inspection", by somebody you trust, adds to your peace of mind. Have a great trip. The coastline highways...full of slow traffic, but the scenery will be enjoyable. I-5 through Oregon and California? A bore! One piece of equipment I'd suggest? Valentine 1!
