Look into the iSaw brand cameras.
IsawCam Better video, made in Korea. They have a new model iSaw 3 about to be released. It is supposed to be amazing. I have access to them wholesale and would be happy to help save you a few $$$$ (if it's not too late) ![]()

Don't mean to sidetrack this thread but I'd be interested in knowing what the options are to mount one of these camera on the outside of my plane. Obviously, I want it secure so it doesn't get lost or damage any part of the plane.
My son has a gopro 2 which he likes very much and I have a friend who does some ski video with a go pro. Seems to work well in both applications. |

I would make a cable tether to the side of your plane as a backup, but I'd be confident to try it. The HD HERO2: 2x as Powerful in Every Way - YouTube

On a Normal airworthiness certificate any attachment requires a 337, experimental nothing is required. That being said GoPro has just about every possible mounting combination available, from suction cup mounts to adhesive pads. Go to YouTube and search, you can see just about every mounting solution from nuts and bolts to duct tape. I would use an inspection cover that is easily removable and replaceable and the adhesive tab. Go pro has a WiFi back and is purported to soon be controlled by a iPhone or iPad app which will allow real time viewing while recording, available soon? eric

My son uses them on his rally car and has never lost one. He has the permanent mount (3M tape) on the bumper, dash and left driver's door and also uses the suction cups in various locations. Quality is great.

I have the Gopro 2 that I use on my car for DE's and on my mountain bike. Love it. Video quality is amazing. Mounting options are almost limitless. I have mounted mine just about everywhere on the car and never had any issues.
If you watch any car shows (Top Gear, Fifth Gear, etc.) you'll notice that all of their in car video is recorded using a GoPro.

I just got the wifi backpac and iphone app for the gopro. Its awesome. You can stream the video to the phone so you can actually see what its shooting, change all the settings, on/off, stop start, everything from the app. Makes it much more usable. The vid stream is about 4-5 sec delayed, but I think its purpose is to get the correct shot.

Also look into the roll cage mounts if you have one. The suction cups are great too, but be sure to push the back in then crank down on the lever. That thing won't move at all. For driver perspective, get a helmet to mount it on. I haven't used the wireless thing, but you can connect several cameras (up to 50?!) and start them all at once. If you don't like the fisheye view, you can buy the underwater DIVE housing, it removes some of the distortion from the lenses. Lastly, you can do 3D if you have two cams. Options are limitless.
