Can't access Pelican Parts - what do I do?
I am getting the same message from Pelican Parts for the last two days at home and at work. I called and no one there seemed to know why I was getting this. Can someone tell me what to do to my computer to access it. I still get the forum.

Thanks, that works. www.pelicanparts.com still doesn't work. Funny.

Same thing happened to me Razor. Glad I got the link. Made the address book change. But it makes me wonder if people out there trying pelicanparts.com for the first time, say a magazine ad reader, are getting the same image we got? If so, it's not only their loss, but Wayne loses too...

Wayne moved the server a few days ago. I guess your ISP may not have updated their DNS yet, but if that was the case I would think you would get a "server unavailable" error. Just for grins, go to a dos window and type "ping pelicanparts.com" The first line should say something like this:
pinging pelicanparts.com [66.236.61.165] with 32 bytes of data Do that and see if the number in brackets is the same. If it is different, your ISP is screwed up, and their DNS isn't updating properly. DNS is what translates the name to the actual address of the server. Tom |

Like the old saying goes, "try try again until you succeed ... and if you still can't get it to work then cry, cry, cry!"

Mark? Does this really make sense to anybody other than Tom? Well, I'm sure it would mean something to Bill Gates. But I mean, us "normal" people???

Mark - here's mine. Do you ever test your speeds off dslreports.com's speed test or 2wire.com's bandwidth meter? dslreports.com just gave me: 1175 kbps

Seems like DNS is working properly for Razon and Pwd72s?
It may be just a browser caching problem. Goto www.pelicanparts.com first. If you have IE 5.0 or above, hit CTRL-F5 to dump the cache for that page (holding down the CTRL key and hitting the refresh button may also work as well). For Netscape, hold down the SHIFT key and hit the reload button to accomplish the same thing. If you're viewing Pelican behind a caching proxy server, all bets are off ![]() If that didn't work, you may want to try flushing the temporary files that IE/NS uses to speed up browsing. -Wade '88 930 slant coupe Last edited by GoodMojo; 06-14-2002 at 11:42 PM.. |
