Emergency Brake not working
I purchased a new handle and knob for my emergency brake. The knob came off and behind it was a red plastic like washer holding a spring in the shaft of the handle. The plastic handle twisted off with no problem. I slide the new handle over and then pushed the spring in and the red washer and screwed the new knob on.
Now it does not work. When you pull the handle up nothing happens and it falls back down. The button is very hard to press in if you can get it in. I was able once or twice to get it to engage, but that required hard pulling and pulling it as far up as I could. Any advice on trouble shooting would be appreciated. The smallest projects mushroom! Thanks |
I hope this is not major, its tough to find parking spots and not hve to use the brake!

Hello
Sounds like the pushrod end has benn fallen out of the clamp link. You can fiddle it back but if you never had seen how it works you better have a look at other unit or into a repair manual. If you can´t find a way you have to sperate the hand brake lever from the base for better acces. Grüsse |

Your diagnosis sounds accurate. Is there a section in Waynes book or in the archives on fixing this? Thanks |
Hello
never had seen the book so I´don´t know that. The thing is a very easy fix if you made it once. ( ok thats relativ ). As long the rod isn´t bend and the lever not jamed into the rear you can fiddle it back in. If not you have to remove the rubberboot or the electric heat control unit and use a hook or rebend screwdriver to releas the jamed lever and pull it down while you insert the rod over it. Maybe a local Porsche specialist gets a chance to make a new costumer ;) Grüsse |
