It's hard to understand what you're trying to do - L brackets? What are those? Are the chairs out, and you're simply looking to put them back in?
On my 72, there are 8 M6 or M8 hex cap screws per chair that simply bolt through the chair slider rails into the floor of the car - two in front and two in back, on the left and right rails. It's really simple and obvious, which makes me think you're asking about something different. Can you explain in a little more detail what you're looking at and trying to do?

You have the 2 rails that mount to the chassis with allen bolts, shown in yellow. The end ones use an oval double washer. The seat brackets mount to the chassis bracket with allen bolts, shown in orange.

What do your seats look like? Early ones look something like this:
![]() These are the style that use the rails Ed shows above. If the look more like this: ![]() Then we need to discuss something different.

I wonder if he is talking about the seat travel stops that attach to front bolt? Those are L shaped and simply keep the seat from traveling too far forward (?)
