Whoo Hoo Factor 964 Rockers are in da house

or in my car, in the passenger seat. Factory 4 piece...made of some kind of polyeurethane.
Peter (at rennspeed) gave me the low down on how to mount them. Picts will be posted. He already has two bolts on each one. The general idea being to cut the heads off of some bolts and fiberglass them in. Then drill and mount them. Picts to follow. This ought to complete my look.
Price was good. They are in fine shape and 260 bucks for the 4 piece rockers and seals. Can't wait!

I've been thinking of doing something similar - I didn't want to re-install the old rockers on mine.

KurtB & widebody911,

Im eagerly awaiting photos of both the cars! I was thinking of putting C2 Rockers on my SC, leaving the stock bumpers. I havent seen any pics of that set up yet...but im sure someone has tried it.

Here is a pic of the Gemballa rockers I have for my 78SC. I will retain the accordian type bumpers. I'm just trying to get a compressor system for the paint.

Actually, that looks great pbs. I do like those. The ones I have are a little higher on the arch. Also, it requires some additional work as pictured here.

Ah...the mighty Dremel again.
I'm guessing you'd recommend one Kurt.

964 rockers

Guys,
I have 964 rocker covers on my '86 Carrera. You can get an idea of how it looks at http://members.rennlist.com/messinwith911s/BriansCar.jpg
I like the look, but have a few words of caution:
The rockers are attached using screws, and are not removable without major effort. This limits access to the rear torsion bars for ride-height adjustment. It also makes it very difficult to replace the rubber seal at the top of the rocker. The 964's actually have indents in the sheet metal that hold clips to support the rockers. You might want to find a better way to support the rockers than on my car.

Regards.

Kurt, is the seal that runs along the top of the rocker pre-bent for the curves, or is it straight? Mine did not come with one but wonder if it is available from our host, or the dealer.

Something else you may want to consider is fiberglassing the bolts at a location that would allow you to use existing holes, i.e. the ones that hold the side rubber trim channel. Keep us informed because I will be do the same thing when it comes to mounting.

They look good bolsen.
pbs, my seals are the factory seals, they appear to follow the curve probably because they were already on the rockers themselves. I don't even know if I will use them. We'll see (I personally hate seals, period).
And I did consider using existing holes , but I don't think they happen to be where they'll do the most good holding it on there.

It won't be that hard to take them off. You'll undo a few 10mm nuts and boom, they come right off over the torsion bar openins. I don't use screws. I use 10mm headed bolts whenever possible.
