Headlight Washer Operation Question

I just purchased my first Porsche, a '95 C2, a month ago and am in the process of familiarizing myself with its mechanical details.

When I activate the headlight washers, the pumps squirts for only around 1-2 seconds before turning off. Repeated actuations of the switch produce consistant 1-2 second "bursts".

Is this normal? Seems odd that the windhield washer pump will run continuously while the headlight washer pump won't.
