the restoration begins... '75 Carrera the wide one

morning all,

been meaning to post the progress as we go but time got the better of me. the car is at Thomas Knoll Motorsport in Munich where the previous UK owner left it.. so here are a few pics to get up to speed.. the body is basically sound with little rot..





























so that where we are, rear left fender had previous damage so will be replaced with a new factory part and he had to remove the rear-frame as it was 1.5cm out from the previous repair.

more updates as i get them.. oh and should look like new when finished..

Seen tens of thousands of Porsche pics over the years, but I believe the one above might very well be the only one I can recall seeing the period correct mirror being monochromatic and painted same to body color... Was this a factory option not commonly used or ? The pic of the car above looks great, sans the rallye inspired height, useless headlight washers, and the aforementioned color of mirror, but b*tchin' nonetheless and best of luck!

a letter from a mr jurgen barth confirms the vehicle as a factory retained car, prepared for kuwait purchaser..

fuchs 7&8 fron new colour komet diamant (will be fitting 8&9)
full leather interior
radio bamberg
widebody from new
sunroof
electric aerial

the final picture is the car outside the factory awaiting delivery.

Why are the headlight washers useless?
