Door Striker Plate Rebuild?
The 41 year old nylon (plastic) encased in my door striker plates is crumbling away. Can I rebuild these with new nylon or do I have to replace the entire plate? I see our host has the entire plate but at $128.00 each it is a bit hard to swallow. Are the aftermarket ones just as good or is it possible to order the replacement nylon? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks Darryl

I've only seen them replaced with new or used units.

The very early (SWB) ones were rebuildable with a weltmeister kit, that is now NLA. The later ones (as you have) are not rebuildable. I've just replaced mine with those available from our host.

Weltmeister Rebuild Kits
Yea, why is it that the rebuild kit is NLA, ($20?), but you can buy the entire reproduction strickers now for $181 each? I rebuilt my drivers side one, now my passenger side is ready, but I can not find the weltmeister kit for sale.
