1988 911 Front strut install help???

I am trying to replace the front struts on my 1988 3.2 Carrera. I was able to compress it enough to get into the wheel well but am unable to get it out from the housing. The A arm does not seem to be able to go far enough down for me to get the proper angle of the housing so I can clear the lip of the fender. I'm guessing I need to disconnect something else to gain the clearance needed? I've attached a photo for reference. Any help would be amazing!!

Wow that looks like an earlier suspension set up. Nothing like my 87 Carrera.

Are you in the removal mode or the install mode? I just push down firmly on the stock ones until they clear the fender, in or out. Maybe you're bottomed out and need to disconnect that aftermarket swaybar link.

Removal mode. First 911 so I don't know what's standard/aftermarket. It spent some time at Mid-Ohio before I bought so I figured it had some suspension tweaks. I can compress the strut all the way but it's not at enough of an angle to get out from the under fender. Is the swaybar endlink the vertical bar connected to the A arm? I was thinking disconnecting that might give me enough drop to angle the strut out.

Yeah. If the other side is still in place, that's the issue. I do one side at a time with the stock swaybar. Otherwise, you fight the swaybar. Take the nut and bolt off the a arm link.

That doesn't look my 88. Weird. Looks like a much earlier set up?
