2001 18" Turbo wheels fit '76 930?

Hi guys,

I'm looking into these 2001 18" turbo twist wheels:

Fronts are 8 x 18 with tire sizes 225/40 ZR 18, Rears are 11x18 with tire sizes 295/35 ZR.

Will these wheels/tire combo fit the 1976 Porsche 930 that I'm about to get?? Will I need spacers? I'm guessing with a 11x18 wheel and 295/35 tire combo I'm NOT going to need spacers??

Thanks in advance!

I put 18" on my 87 930 needed 1 inch spacer in front and as I remember 1 1/4 on rear. On the 87 there is a factory 1 inch spacer that you take off and replace with a new one (rear). It's not bolted on it just pulls off. My turbo twist are 9" front and 11" rear.
Hope this is of some help.

Thanks, Don. I appreciate your input. So where can I get these spacers from and what's the cost on these spacers??

The spacers will depend on the offset i do not believe that they made a 18" replica or factory wheel with the correct offset, so knowing this i would bet 2 3/4-3 inches on the rear and 2.5 on the front, but dont take my word, heres what you do mount the tire and wheel take your old wheel off, (its best to jack it up by the shock bolt so the suspesion will stay compressed) put the wheel under the car, let the car down to ride hight, careful to not catch the lip on the car with the tire/wheel, position wheel where you think it looks best usualyabout a half inch from the fender lip, then measure from the back of the wheel mounting surface to the cars hub/rotor surface (this is called an air gap), repete the front careful not to let the car down on the tire, the wheels will fit but will require spacers no one will give you an exact size so measure it your self its real easy, then call Boothe hes in the back of excellent, these are the nicest spacers you can buy, tell him Kevin from speedwheel sent you

I got mine from Ralph T. Boothe thru Cory at Planet9elevem.com (wheels and tires also)as I remember they were around $450.00 for all four. I had the same fear that they would not fit but Cory did the whole set up for me. So you might want to check with him he has good prices on original rims.

Thanks gentlemen (Wayne, Don and Kevin).

Well now I have another potential seller; I guess my main concern is: which ones am I better off with at rears?

18x11 Porsche turbo twist wheels with 295/35/18 tires in the rear? Is that overkill??

or

18x10.5 Porsche Turbo twist wheels with 265/35/18's in the rear?

I didn't realize that Porsche made an 11" AND a 10.5" width for their rear 18's?? or were one of the sellers mistaken? My preference is to avoid or minimize the use of spacers but would like the wheels to sit flush with the fender (want the most aggressive stance possible without comprimising safety/damage to body).

Since I have not purchased my '76 930 yet, I'm not sure if I want to buy either of the wheels yet don't want to miss out on a good opportunity either. How much do these wheel/tire combos usually go for used & new??

Sorry for the long post; I'm just trying to keep costs down and making sure I'm getting the right wheel/tire size combo for this '76 930; hopefully without the use of spacers?!

Once again, thanks in advance.

I don't believe that you can get away without spacers if you want the turbo twist, you need three piece whells to avoid them. My whole package of wheels p-zero tires with about 50 mile on them and spacers was about $3200.00. The 11" on the rear do look very good gives a very wide appearence.

okay guys,

I finally have more information/details on the wheels and their offsets. They are from a 2001 Porsche 996

Fronts: 18x8 Turbo twist wheels with 50mm offset with 225/40/18 tires

Rears: 18x11 Turbo twist wheels with 45mm offset with 295/35/18 tires

With those wheel sizes and offsets in mind, will I need spacers for a 1976 Porsche 930??

Thanks in advance!
