A little help with selecting sway bar bushings

I am installing 21 / 22 sway bars from a 89 911 on my 78SC. Hopefully this will be sufficient while maintaining a suitable level of driving comfort for daily driving. At least as good as it can get with 21/28 torsion bars and the bigger sway bars.

I wanted to install some poly bushings for added stifness, but our host has informed me that they are not available for these OEM sway bars, but can supply me with the OEM replacement type. I have found some "general application" poly bushings, pic below. Should I just go with the poly bushings or the OEM rubber replacement? Any experience with the "general purpose" bushings?

Paul,

I have used those 'universal' bushings ... on several vehicles, without any problems. I would suggest adding some gussets to your rear mounts, because the polyurethane bushings do add more stress to those mounts! The factory rear mounts are a known weak spot, but you don't necessarily have to go to the rather expensive factory replacement 'butterfly' mounts!

I cannnot comment on the availability of bushings bug highly recommend you spend the money on the updated brackets for your rear sway bar.

Also, consider where you are now putting the stresses on your suspension since you are modifying the 'bars. As an example, a person shouldn't oughta put 9"ers on an older SC without closely looking at the condition of the joints, hub, etc.

Just a thought,
John

Thanks for the impute. I will strengthen the rear mounting points as you suggest. I guess its either now or later, the latter being at the most inop time and place.

Every part of the suspension that moves, or has another part moving that moves in relation , has been replaced or upgraded. The sway bars are the last components to be changed.
