fuel in cylinders
Hi all, thought I would start a separate thread from the "fuel in cylinders with CIS thread.
This Q is for you veterans with lots of carb experience. I have Dellorto 45's on a 2.2 liter Type 4 motor in my 912. I've been parking it nose down on our moderately steep driveway for the last few months while the garage is full of, er, stuff (thinking of the George Carlin line about "my stuff and your c**p") Many mornings when I go to start the car, there is enough carb leakdown that the plugs get soaking wet with gas. It's often dicey whether I can get it cleaned out (Italian tune-up) before the plugs foul completely. I've had the occasional hydraulic lockups as well. I have done everything to these carbs I could think of--replaced almost every part (at least those that I can still get) , new float needle valves and seats, set the static float height by the book, and it's still happening. I have not replaced the floats themselves. I understand there may be a euro supplier that might still have them, but they appear to be OK. Any insights as to what I should attack next? many thanks
