Tires different manufactures on same car

I'm looking for some high performance tires for 15 inch 225's and 205's, Can't seem to find anything but Kumhos that are available. Anyone have any experience running different manufacturers in the front and the rear, ie Pirelli's in the rear and Yokohama's in the front ?? As long as they're the same speed rating?? I know it sounds unorthodox but it may be a solution

Really really bad idea & practice.

Even different tires from the same maker is a bad idea due to major handling issues, some of which may inadvertently land your car into your local body shop, not to mention scaring the bejezus out of you.....

I know very well how difficult it is to source good 15" tires now,....I'm dealing with the very same issues.

Still,..I've done that before and speaking from personal experiences with my own as well as customer cars, its a very bad idea.

I've run into some unforeseeable money problems that I wish onto no one, and the circumstances behind it make a soap opera look credible... Although I have spent way more than double the purchase price of my then market average 1991 911 turbo (aka 965) over the years with no debt nor any money considerations in the past 2.5 years, now I've had no choice but to limit my car expenditures in certain things by way of marriage, unemployment, kid on the way and other stuff. So, when one of the rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires blew (or some piece of ***** related to the first sentence above did some handywork), I have resorted to replace both rear tires to what I could afford - Sumitomos - and the car rides actually better although the pilots remain in the front. We're talking about 18's on 295/35's which is different from your 15's, but you'll find out on your own as to what you can do based on what you can afford - the sky is the limit!

I'm with Steve. After having spent almost 25 years in the tire business, I've seen some really bad results mixing from mixing tires front & rear. Sometimes you'll get lucky like Otto, and the mixed set won't be totally scary all the time, but sometimes it will, too. And even when they don't misbehave during your normal drive, they will likely be rather unpredictable at speed or when pushed. I don't recommend it.

These cars tend to do very strange things with mis matched tires on... mostly when the car is pushed. I had an "opportunity" to push a 911 with decent falkens on the front, and really good pole positions on the back. The car started on cold tires with good front grip and poor rear stick due to cold tires. Once the pole positions warmed up they stuck way better in the back than the front tires could keep up with. Not super scary, but the dynamic of the car changed wildly. The fact that you siad you were looking for performance tires tells me you want the same tire all the way around. If you said you needed the cheapeast set ever, just to limp around town for a while, I would be more supportive of mixed branding as a stop gap.

My car came with Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions on front and Continental Extreme DWs on the rear.
When I went to 7s and 9s, the wheels came with all BF Goodrich G-force TA KDWs
