What a difference a few turns make!
Being a relative newbie at this, any amount of DYI success is a major milestone for me :) Lately the clutch on my '88 930 slantnose has been shuddering quite harshly, requiring some delicate clutch footwork to get the car rolling w/o the car seemingly trying to shake itself apart. It was especially bad when the car's cold and has progressively worsened since I bought the car. Tonight, armed with detailed info from this great board, I put the car up on stands and went to work. I increased the Bowden tube preload as suggested (there was a little play), and adjusted the bolt on the adjustment lever to take up a little slack on the cable itself. A few turns of the bolts later, the clutch is now firm and buttery smooth and any hint of shuddering is now just a distant memory :D
Now if the car passes the emissions test tomorrow it would be a perfect weekend. (knock on wood) -Wade |
