Nyc Le-mans Get Together

On SATURDAY, JUNE 15th a bunch of us are considering getting together at SCRUFFY DUFFY'S, which is located at 743 Eighth Avenue, between 46th and 47th Street in NEW YORK CITY, for the purposes of quaffing some COLD BEERS and watching the 70TH RUNNING OF THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS! You-know-who is expected to dominate the GT Class, but there should be some good battles between the LMP900's and LMP675's and everybody wants to see the Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranello that was so fast at Sebring run against the Corvettes in GTS.

Here's the CAVEAT: Before we approach the owner to get him to open the place early, we want to get some idea of a HEAD COUNT. The race starts at 10:00 a.m. (16:00 French Time) and we were planning to get together around 9:30 or so. Coverage continues until 4:30 p.m., and if you haven't passed out from excitement by then, picks back up at 12:30 a.m.

This promises to be not only a great opportunity to drink beer at
9:30 in the morning but to watch Porsches in action- so come on out and wear your Porsche Hat/Jacket/Embroidered Lederhosen and cheer our favorite marque in its sixth decade of world sports car dominance.

UPDATE: We are going to get together at NOON. Consensus of attendees was that everybody's schedule works better that way.

So, this isn't going to be real organized, just a bunch of guys wearing Porsche gear watching the race on the biggest screen we can find! How will you know it is us? You will just know.

Come on by at 12:00 and pound a few pints of the heavy stuff and join us in a chorus of "Ein, Zwei, G'Suffa!" <>

If anyone needs one more reason, Scruffy's has got the best wings in NYC.

They don't pay me to rave about their wings, but they charge me less for my drinks if I do.

Since it's a 24hr race, I won't miss it all

It's going to be a great weeked! Fun with Phoenix (with cool weather to help save my tires), fun watching Porsche at Le Mans and a fun date with my girlfriend, how can you beat that?!

Yeah yeah YEAH!

Speed channel just ended the first block of coverage just as darkness fell over the Circuit Le Sarthe. "Yep, turn off dem French twisty cars, less get us some good ol' Bayuss Fishin a-goin! Heh-heayh!" Fortunately there was a NYC contingent to prop up the bar and cheer them on!

Hey, did you notice that the Morgan actually looks like a Morgan? That's pretty cool! I wonder if it has a wooden frame too?

Seriously, Porsche should be in GTS competing against Ferrari. The Prodrive 550 is one bad looking machine and was leading when we staggered out.
