Suspension advise please - JRZ VS RSR bilstein
 

Hey Guys,
I recently got my hands on a 87 G50 and in the process of rebuilding the suspension for track duties. The car will be used on the track whenever I have a chance; it will be used on the street as well during the weekend and such.

I have 2 options in mind, one is JRZ race double adjustable and the other one is RSR Bilsteins custom valved. the price difference between both set ups is $4500. I can afford the difference in price, but having a hard time justify it.

For guys with JRZ set up, would you guys say they worth the extra money? What are your experiences with JRZ shocks compare to RSR shocks or bilstein shocks in general?

I am a novice and have about a dozen track days under my belt. Will I be able to use the JRZs to their protential at my skill level?

The car will have matching torsion bars for either shop ,camber plates, front and rear bushings, bump steer kit, sways, big brakes, rear bolt in roll bar, 8" and9" fuchs on r-compounds.

For a street car just doing track events, and not competitive wheel to wheel racing, I don't think it's worth it. Revalved Bilsteins matched to the right spring rates and a well set-up and aligned car should be plenty. The main benefit of the JRZ's is the adjustability, but you need to know to diagnose the behavior of the car and then know what each shock change will do or you might just make it worse. Take that money and spend it on a good shop to do the set-up and a supply of fresh racing tires, and you will be better off in my opinion.

Do you change your spring rates at all?
Are the track surfaces and speeds all that different for the tracks that you go to?

If not why pay through the nose for a feature that you won't use.

Custom valved Bilsteins w/ modern digressive valves are a great choice, an even better one when price is factored in

At my current skill level, I don't think I can actually adjust the shocks according to the feedback from the car just yet. The vendor I am buying　（ｉｆ）　 them from will provide settings for different tracks.

The car will get 22 /31 or 23/32 torsion bar for those shocks if I go this route and I won't mess with the spring rates unless I have the opportunity to do a roll cage and convert the car to coilover system.
I will be traveling to tracks in the pacific north west area in the summer months, some are super smooth and some are bumpier. Hoping to do 10+ track days every year from now on.
