FYI: Porsche on Speedvision
Just noticed that "Victory by Design", which covers evolution of the Porsche cars, is on Speedvision today. It's showing from 1pm-2:30pm CT in my area. You may want to check if it's in your area.

ya know, I really want to hate Alain de Cadenet for about a week every time I watch one of his shows.
One, just ONE of them in my garage! but you still have to like a guy with such good taste. |

yes i've seen that numerous times.
my only complaint was that they didn't drive the cars and have as much in-car as they did in "victory by design-ferrari"(which is also a MUST SEE). i wonder if they have that series available on dvd.

Now that Speedvision has assumed it's "new" mantle as Speed, what has become of good 'ol Alain? Victory by Design was made a couple of years ago. Nothing new with de Cadenet lately on Speed. Perhaps he said something uncomplementary about Nastycar and.... ![]()

I thought I knew every Porsche but the 962CR was a new one for me. I never knew they made a road going 962. Evidently there were only six made. Now I know what I want when I grow up (not that it could be driven in the US).

" ....what has become of good 'ol Alain?"
We saw him wandering around at Sebring this year with a Speedvision/Speed shirt on. Hopefully, he's still with the network - I really enjoy his commentary! -- Curt |

It's not just the cars, either, the houses and roads he plays around look like a perfect weekend. The 'victory' have been airing for some time, but I could swear I saw de Cadenet in a recent show with an AWD turbo. Maybe we could get him to do a Pelicanheads episode about our idea of what's fun, eh ?
Freudian slip about having a garage, but I'd still like having one of those cars sitting on the strip of dirt and weeds I call my driveway. I still kick myself for passing on a beautiful dark blue 512BB in the days before the Pebble Beach money madness, it would look good sitting beside the red whaletail. |

my favorite part of the show was when he was racing down a street, through a small town, on a weekday. he must have been going close to 100 mph down this tiny street and almost hit several cars. towards the end of the street you notice a person running across the road trying to avoid being hit! i was rolling on the floor at this point. then he finally slows down and says, "theres a local policeman...we had better be careful."
great stuff.

By the way, there is more then just these shows to be envious of Alain DeCadenat -- if you do a search on his name, you'll find where I posted his bio from the Rennsport Reunion program. While he didn't do the targa clip, he apparently is known for a good turn of speed on another well known piece of asphalt. That's a trivia question for you -- Where did Alain have a speed record? ![]() Answer: The (Unofficial) British public road speed record of 234 MPH!
