Weirdest problem...cdi+carbs
 

Some people might remember that my CDI box started to give me trouble. Well I fixed it and it works and whines allright..but...

Fuel pump now pumps the gas straight through the carbs..and the excess fuel comes out somewhere near the intake manifold and carb joint. Seems that it comes through the gaskets, but why? These hold air (new gaskets) but not gas..besides there is no pressure there.

The weird thing comes here..when I detach the CDI unit, the hissing sound is gone..fuel pump still pumps, but it does not come through the gaskets (or whereever its coming from). The CDI unit detached the fuel pump pumps slowly.

What on earth is going on? I suspect the float valves, but why the floats hold the gas when the CDI is not connected.

These problems started after the car stood 2 weeks still, undriven.

I am soon gonna start thinking that the engine needs couple ventilation holes, which I could drill with my 357 Magnum

Could it be caused by sticking float needle valves? I wonder if you bumped the carb while disconnecting your CDI. this could cause a stuck float or float valve to release.

I would pull the tops of your carbs and clean/inspect the floats and valves. Check the float levels while you are at it. Wayne's book has a good description on how to do this.
