Replace/Remove Accordion Bellows?
I searched! I read the entire bumper thread. But not much if any about the bellows.
Can I make my own bumper extensions out of fiberglass? Will fiberglass stick to the aluminum bumper? Or make them out of aluminum and learn how to weld? I want to re-work both the front and rear bumpers and valances, so I'm thinking to do the mods in glass. |
When I changed my rear bumper to carbon fiber I reused my bumper extensions - while not the nicest looking things, they fill the gap nicely.
What 'look' are you going for? A smooth extension of the bumper over to the fenders? If so would think some bolt on fibgerglass extensions could be made. Yes you can fiberglass to the bumpers, welding may be tricky as the bumpers are probably heat treated. Not saying it can't be welded, but I wouldn't tackle it as one of my first welding jobs! Yes! |
You reminded me of this old thread. I really wanted a set of these.
Don't think it ever happened http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/409560-panels-replace-bumper-bellows.html |
You could do what I did, make a FG mold from my original bumper, but before you make the mold, extend your bumper with some bondo to cover where the bellows are. Then when you make a bumper from this mold it will have longer edges.
