A couple of shots from the paint shop

I went to visit my car today at Altisimo in Napa. There were a couple of other cool cars there so I took some pictures and thought I would share.... Brandon (the owner of Altisimo) said he would send me some pictures of the 912 when it is done ...

The 912 (not mine I just thought it was cool) :

356 (also not mine) :

My 69 911 getting ready for paint WOHOO!!:

Yes that is Irish green. That is actually the factory color of my 69 and seeing that had me second guessing my decision to go with polar silver...

It's not too late to change your mind, is it?

It's your car and all (yadda yadda), but man, another cool factory color being painted over into silver . . . bummer.

Well.... there is nothing being painted over on my car .... My car was down to bare metal everywhere.... It isn't to late though I am just conflicted about irish green with the rs rear flares.... It seems that it would look better in silver although the flares might actually be more subdued with that color.. I can torture myself for a few more weeks.

Stick with the silver...both my cars were polar silver, and surprise - they were painted red at some point. Your car will look better silver, but then again it is my favorite color for a 911...

Irish Green would look great with the flares!

I think you'll later regret it if you do a color change. Just IMO.

You certainly will hurt the value of the car if you go from its original Irish Green to a modern silver. If you are at all concerned about the car's value (some are, some are not). Longhoods in original colors like Irish Green are very desirable.

If you do a poll, I think you'll find a huge majority would say to keep it IG.

(That being said, to circumvent the dozen posts that will follow and say this obvious statement - "It's your car, do whatever you want.")

Another Porsche repainted silver, yawn.
That Green looks awesome.
Or take a look at Oliver's blue on his "Phoenix" for a cool old school color choice.

I'm with McLovin on this. Silver and Gulf Blue are over played on early cars, IMO. Irish green would be excellent. There's a lot of early colors that would look great with the RS flares. Just look at pics of 73RSs to gain more insight. Best wishes on whatever you do decide, Larry.

Second vote for the Irish Green.

Great color - and original for your car. Go with it!

neutral colors never age whereas the same can't be said of bright hues of the other colors of the rainbow. Even if you decide on polaris silver, it'll be your '69 polaris silver P-car which last I checked, always will look pretty b**chin' and far better looking than that color/shade of green above IMHO!!!

I will likely stay with silver... I have been picturing it that way in my mind for a long time now. I guess you could say I am a bit of a silver car fan since my jetta is reflex silver and my boxster is arctic silver . So I might as well keep the heard silver (I will probably have my truck painted silver too LOL) My car is a bit of a hot rod anyway; flares on the rear, 915 trans, 3.0 engine, SC suspension and brakes. I figure anyone concerned with originality would not buy my car anyway .... if I was inclined to sell it.

I love silver. The Irish Green may be original, but contrary to what others have said with respect to originality/value, it is a non-issue with the flares, tranny and engine. You are already making it yours, so don't stop with the paint.

I agree. I think on a hot rod the only time color changes significantly impact the value is if the color is a little hard to take (for instance I would never choose hot pink ) ... or if the color change is just a spray over and then every nick and chip shows the other color...

I took mine from black to polar silver. I dithered. Hemmed and hawed. Done right, all stock colors look great. Done wrong, worn out original looks better. Mine was done right and I get many compliments. Maybe my only regret is not going GT silver metallic - a liitle more pizzaz and a little less primer-ish looking.

Larry . . .Irischgruen is calling you!

Now, that looks like two stage base/clear on the 912 (it doesn't usually shine like that until it's been sanded and polished if it's single-stage). I would ask the painter to use single stage, like original.

It's only original once! Even with the flares, it would be a GREAT look, a nice period color with a period update. Go for it Larry.
