File a complaint with the county and state about horse crap - groundwater pollution, runoff, etc.

You can also put a nice quiet muffler on and then toss cherry bombs out the window.

If all else fails, call OddJobUno

Just quiet your car down. Noise pisses everyone off, horses or no, and very few people are automotive enthusiasts (and the number is declining). You can't just say "This is America, I do what I want!" Harley guys get away with it because lots of cops have Harleys. Very few have Porsches. My retort is overly aggressive, and I don't mean it to be, but I'm surprised at the number of responses here that are essentially "fuk them."

Horse images are pretty hilarious, though.

You could pick up a cheap RX-7, throw straight pipes on there, and terrorize the neighborhood while wearing a disguise.*

They'll welcome the 911 back after that! :D

*Do this at the risk of picking up a rotary addiction

My neighbor complained about my turbo with the B&B exhaust on it as it was loud. I changed to a Fabspeed which is a little quieter. Then the guy with the Harleys moved in. lol

I've only had the project finished and running for two weeks and I already found a note in my mailbox “Dear Neighbor, you’re spooking the horses with that green thing”. Huh? “Green thing”???

My speeds through the area have been modest, so I guess I need to do one of two things...

1. Put a proper muffler on her.
2. Move to where there are no horses, like an awesome historic brick building in an industrial area of Downtown LA like Magnus ;)

Bummer. Only two digits on your new trap speed meter, huh? Does it stick at 99 or wrap back around to 00 and count up again from there?

It used to flash 99, then they switched it to flash the posted limit once they found it was encouraging certain people...

Hi Peter,

The note was anonymous, but I believe I know who it was.

I'm only a few miles from Decker Cyn. Decker has gotten a little out of hand with the rice rockets and is pretty heavily CHP patrolled on weekends now. I still run it over to the coast on weekdays, and rarely see another car, but avoid it on weekends. On a Sunday you will loose count of the Ferrari's and Lambos running Decker back to Malibu and Calabasas.

My brother expected the crotch rockets, but was kinda surprised at how many exotic sports cars, that actually run, play on Decker. It's fine with him, his house is at the end of a long driveway a good bit above the road, and you can't hear the cars from inside the house. And he doesn't have horses!

Make a cap, and cap off one outlet until you are out of the neighborhood. Or get a cut out solenoid, and switch it on and off at will.

Simple solutions first. Try a cap

Actually I believe its legal for bikes to be as loud as they want. Atleast around here. Cars get nabbed for "Inadequate exhaust"

Good luck with the horse people. Lots of horse people around here, and lots more rich out of town horse people moving into the area. They are big on changing laws and bringing in new ways of doing things to the area.

My one ticket in the 911 was by a neighbor no less who lived a mile or so up the road in the country. It was dark and he didn't recognize the car... and if you get pulled by the HP they have to write a ticket.

Around here, the Harley guys are big on the loud pipes save lives thing... some of them are extra loud.

On the topic of neighbors, the guy across the street from me has a fairly new Corvette that he bought a little after I bought my SC. After five years of living across from each other he has finally started waving this past summer. The SC is a little loud but I try not to be a nuisance. I've always tried to be friendly... not sure what his deal was. I thought at first he was jealous over the car as silly as that is since he had a newer sports car... figured he's a car guy in some sense. Whatever it is atleast he seems to be over it finally.

Magnus, we're only 50 miles apart and your habitat and my habitat could not be more different if we were on different planets. You sleep with your cars in the living room, hear the noise of manufacturing and the bustle of the city, and can walk to see Giacomo Puccini's madame Butterfly this weekend at the LA Opera. ...I schlep through a small avocado grove to my car barn, see mountain lions in my back yard and hear the sound of coyotes eating my neighbor's dog, and the nearest grocery store is 7 miles away.

Flieger 11-20-2012 06:02 PM

Have you really seen a mountain lion there? I'd love to see one. I've seen bobcats but never a mountain lion.

YES! I did see one Max. Did I take you into the Avocado grove when you and your dad were here? He was walking in the barranca at the bottom of the avocados. We just got an email warning that's it's been seen again and warned to bring our dogs in at night. At 148 pounds, I don't have to worry about tank :D Heck, he trees the bobcats.

It was getting late so we just stayed out in your driveway area in front of the green thing's garage. Maybe I can get over there on my winter break in a couple weeks.

Does this thread set a record for most posts in one day? I know a lot of us don't work tomorrow and/or don't care much about work tomorrow, but I'm amazed as to 57 replies!!!

Wow - same what everybody else said - screw them! You can't, no matter how hard you try, make everyone happy!

Flieger 11-20-2012 06:41 PM

It might be a record for the tech forum (probably not, there have been some very cool build thread introductions and the photo threads get a lot of posts) but it is certainly not a record if you include the off-topic area. Just take a look at the Stijn! thread.

OttoB 11-20-2012 06:51 PM

What, there are other areas besides tech and classifieds? Who knew?
