Purists won't like this one....

Or better known as "show me your studs"....and I don't mean piercings
At 8100 ft you have to make the call at some point. We've had two six inch snows already...and you feel like you are tempting fate the longer you delay the inevitable. The 74 gets year round duty, and deserves a nice pair of shoes.

These have some meat and metal on them

That's what I'm talking about...

Winter? Bring it on.

Excluding the Ca-Fla crowd that think winter driving is heading to the airport to catch a flight to Aspen...(I know that one is going to hurt...
),
show us what your car wears to make it around during the winter months.

Speedo

Oh no! That picture reminds me of growing up in NJ and driving around with the dreaded "studded Snow tires" for 4 months. Nothing to do here in TX but drive with the targa top off all winter!

Using a Chinese jack with no jack stands!! Tsk tsk!! You are right, purists will gasp!

I grew up in the snow and miss it for 10 minutes a year!

That looks like you're ready for ice racing in Georgetown! I'm hoping to get up there this season, so I'll be looking to mount studded snows on my spare Fuchs pretty soon too.

See ya around Boulder!

i don't think there is anything special about putting studded tires on a 911.

but i'm curious about the way the jack pad is used...extra height?

Are you changing to studs on the jack too? It looks like it's lifting a wheel also!

I think putting studs on a P-car and driving it in the snow sounds purist to me. Very cool.

I'm sure even Dr. Porsche ran his cars like this, as it gets pretty bad over there - they don't ever stop driving year-round. True story: first time I was in Germany I saw some guy driving his Testarossa in 2 feet of snow. Just make sure you have the pressure washer out to do the underside on the weekends...

I think your jack is getting ready to pee on your cordless drill...911 debauchery at it's finest.

Winter studs aren't "hard core" until they are about 3/8" long...

Something more like this:

Start thinking of 30° slip angles and lateral Gs approaching 1.5.

I think this car really is a bit light on tire screws...

CA 74 911 and 356

Well, actually you are the purist as Dr. Porsche built his cars to be DRIVEN, so snow shoes are the right thing to do. For us CA owners, here is a photo of our cars bracing for the Harsh winter conditions

Winter tires rule! If they didn't use truckloads of bodywork-destroying salt on the roads, I'd do the same. Would love to tie a Christmas tree to the roof of my... Targa. Wait, never mind.
