Does anyone have a picture of the nut that needs to be turned to lower the front?
I looked briefly this morning, but am not sure I am looking at the right thing. |
|
pdapca, we want better pics of your new wheel setup
|
I get home too late for a good picture. I will drive the car to work tomorrow and take some shots in the Florida sun. I will post here and with a link to a web page that has them.

Have you seen te movie Shallow Hal. Get a girlfriend like that and it will bring the front of the car down alright.

LOL Bill, you are a sad man!

Thanks for the photo, but I cranked that nut on both sides and the car did not move even a 1/4 of an inch. Funny thing is, passenger side is 1/2 higher than the drivers. I turned the nut both ways and kept measuring. Absolutely no change. I was measuring the center of the wheel well opening to the floor of my flat garage. Any advice would be appreciated! |
That's the bolt you need to turn. Counter clockwise lowers the car. It may take 2-3 turns to lower it ½ inch. If you get to the end of travel. You can take that bolt all the way out then pull that end cap off and re-index it on the end of the torsion bar.

I am not having luck uploading pics to pelicans owner gallery.
Here is a picture of the front wheel. I will try and resize a picture of the whole car in the next post. |

very nice,

Thanks.
I will run home at lunch and give it a few cranks to see if it drops. I know I did at least 5 or 6 and the car did not move. I even pressed the bumper down to see if it just had not settled. Maybe driving to work helped. |
If that bolt is out of adjustment, it will not lower the car any further. If that is the case, you would have to re-index the spline on it.
When adjusting the height, it will proably not lower as much as you expect until you roll the wheels. I use alignment pivot plates when i did mine, the other option is to make an adjustment, move the car at least 20 feet, then re-check. If one fender is 1/2" higher than the other I would suggest you take it to a qualified shop for lowering, alignment, and corner balance. Something is either tweaked or out of adjustment big time. If it is out of adjustment that far the car will handle like crap and may even pull to one side, especially under hard braking. The result would be possible unsafe driving characteristics and bad tire wear. |
Thanks Sam.
I was planning on having my mechanic align and corner balance, so maybe I should add the lowering too. Does anyone know how to make my url to my pelican gallery show up as a link? |
