Harness Mount Question

I have an '84 that I'm installing some Sparco seats, harness bar and 6 point harnesses. I'm using a BK harness mount on the tunnel side seat belt mount in conjunction with the factory seat belts. However, on the '84 (maybe other years too) the factory seat belt receptacle swivels on a joint so it can rotate fore and aft and to the right and left. The BK mount rotates too. It looks like there's no real easy way to make it work since the swivel joint on the factor receptacle gets in the way of the full movement of the BK mount.

I"ve tried mounting the bracket in/out, up and down but not sure what the best way is.

Since I drive this on the street too, I'm hoping to keep the factory belts. Has anybody solved this or seen a slick way to mount these?

Thanks,

I see your problem but It looks like in your picture you should have enough movement to position either one where you need? They look pretty far forwad already. Moving them back shouldn't be a problem.

I have an 89 and the mounting location is different but I used Gforce eye bolts to accomplish the same thing. I had to machine down the od on the inner side to accomodate the factory latch. They only cost $5 each. Works great.

Jeff,

BK makes a tunnel side seatbelt mount that bolts on to the seat rails allowing you to retain the stock seat belt receptacle as well as attaching an eyebolt for your harness lap belts.

That's what i used in my 89 when i instatalled Sparcos and Schroth 6 point harnesses !
You will also need the BK sub belt mounts and you will have to relocate your DME a few inches back towards the rear.

If you want some pics,PM me your email address and i'll forward some for you.

Cheers !
Phil

Hey Jeff-
I have a pair of the BK adapters that wildcat referred to. Happy to donate to your car, can't use them anymore with the way the cage and halo seat are configured. I know I have 2 sets, but I think you just need one for the driver's side.

I'll dig it out this afternoon and give you a call.

Ed

Great Idea. As it turns out, Ed lives really close. this is going to work out great.

You are correct that I'll need to set up a sub bar in some way. Was thinking I'd mount some eyelets onto the floor or fabricate a subbar out of square tubing. The BK subbars don't exactly fit. I've got Sparco seats on top of Recaro sliders so the dimensions are a bit non standard.

Thanks!
