Speaker suggestions?

Well, the 30 year old fiber cone speakers front and rear are finally getting iffy. Any suggestions for "bolt in" replacements? I'm keeping the cool original Blaupunkt radio.

And will I have to take the car completely apart to get at them (the rears, I mean). Don't want to put shelf mounts in.

Car is an 82 SC.

Thanks
Scott

Scott, I mounted on my 85 Targa a set of FLI 5x7 speakers which are pretty shallow and they fitted perfectly under the deck and in the original mounts of the old 4x6's. The deck mounted back on the car like nothing, there is also the Kenwood 5x7 which are also OEM replacements for Mazda's and I believe they are about the same depth as the FLI's which is about 2 1/4 inch. Good luck!

^Be or Rainbow.

The Focal Be are too expensive for me, but eventually once the mechanical work is complete on my car, then I will probably go for a set of Rainbow with a pioneer prs80 head unit since right now I have a crapy Sony and no original head unit. Not sure about the amp.

focal and rainbow are very nice, but if keeping the stock hu they will be a waste of money imho. no sense in buying a set of $250+ speakers if you are going to power them with a 30 year old car radio. GIGO.

take a trip to a local audio place, or hell for that matter bestbuy, and listen to some various speakers. keep in mind they won't sound exactly the same in your car but it gives you something to go on. if i were in your case i would not drop more than $100-125 (cheaper if you can) per set as anything above that will be a waste.

the rear speakers are easy to get to. there are 4 screws that hold the rear parcel shelf in place. remove them, lift the entire thing up (towards the ceiling) and then out (towards the front of the car). there is a little tab in the middle. it will make sense once you have it out.
