i've always wondered. How would one say, for instance,

If you're looking for license plate ideas, the German equivalent to "adios" would be: TCHUESS!

Yep, if it's friends you say tchuess (sp), ryhmes with juice. Auf Wiedersehen is what you parents would say to their friends.
Or Bis spater - ryhmes with see you later, and that's what it means too. I used to study German - well one in particular
