RS hood lights
AS I work forward in my ST project the idea of adding some RS-style hood lights keeps coming to mind. Now I realize that OE style lights are unobtainium when considered with my budget. I have found that the Cibie Oscars are still available with the swivel mount.
In looking at these lights I would think it would not be too difficult to modify the mounting system to sit on a flat surface, say the hood or fender flat. Simply cut out a circle leaving a flat plane and add mounting attachments. Has anyone considered or tried doing something similar? It would make these lights available to those of us with more limited budgets. Just a passing thought. Jamie

If you're building a replica this is certainly the way to go. You would need to do some fabrication but nothing overly complex. I wouldn't be able to justify spending several grand on NOS lights unless I was a millionaire.

I might just give it a try. I think that making mounts and a seal will be trivial.

Speaking of trying, if you're concerned about your hood, I bet you could pick up an old, rusted hood at a wrecking yard to give it a shot before drilling your own. Might be worth the practice.
Just a thought.

I have an old rusted hood to practice on. It came of my roller that now is sporting a new(unpainted) fiberglass hood. The project continues...
