Flat Fuch DIY re-finish question
 

I found a great deal on a 4 flat 15x6 fuchs for my 70T restoration project, trouble is at some point they were painted black, my goal is to return them to the 1970 look with the silver pedals. Any suggestions of the path of least resistance? Living on Kauai makes matters difficult in regard to shipping to a person like Al Reed. Paint stripper. See what's under the black. Might still have the anodized finish under there.

Would you try and mask off the areas you want to stay black? Will the stripper effect the anodization?

Stripper won't hurt the anodizing (if any remains). I'd strip all the black off, and then repaint the black in the correct location later. Much easier to apply paint selectively than to strip selectively.

I don't know about those, but some of the deep sixes had a fairly rough surface under the paint.

That wheel looks like it's been repainted already, so I would not hesitate to strip it and see what's underneath.

I read somewhere that someone painted their wheels by sealing the back and having the paint level so high that it covered evening all around the petals up to the point where you want the sliver to be. (Hopefully that made sense)

My guess of course is you would use a lot more paint but as long as the wheel is absolutely level the spokes would be covered quite evenly.
