Ok, here is what I did. I picked up some of that insulation that has the heat barrier and tucked it all around the engine to try and seal off any heat comming up from the bottom. The car ran about 10 degrees cooler, it was between 210 and 240 most of the time. The engine bay seemed cooler when I opened the lid, but I can still feel a ton of heat comming off the hot dog they call a muffler. on a car that does not have the numeric temp gauge where is 200 degrees at, Im wondering if I have the wrong sending unit for the numeric gauge. I guess I just need to go ahead and order the freakin cool collar and be done with it. Any more thoughts on this??
Tom 71T 2.4 running great I might add... |

Do you have a pyrometer? If not get one and measure the oil temp at the dipstick or the oil tank. The are available from Pegasus and Summit Racing.
A pyrometer looks like a toy pistol and shoots a beam and will scan an item for temp....both F and C. Will also do tire temps and lot of other things. Well worth the 50 bucks I spent. |
