Clutch Helper Spring Question

How long should I expect one of these *&%^$! things supposed to last?

I had a new clutch professionally installed in my 79SC less than a year ago, and tonight - BING!

Do I have a beef with the shop or is this just the way it goes? Ordinarily, I'd just frop the 70 bones for the part and do it myself, but I'm just days away from starting a long trip and dong have time...

Whining mode off...

Mine lasted for one and a half years (SC). I installed it and it went together very nicely w/ no interference with the exchanger (rebuilt pedal cluster, new clutch cable). Bought another one and, talking to JohnW, was told that it is possible that the later versions don't use thick spring material and are likely to break sooner as a result.

it is not replaced on a clutch job unless it's broken, so the shop is not negligent.

JW,

This one was replaced at the time.

Do you have one in stock you could sell me? I'm leaving next week for a 5500 + mi. road trip and this weekend may be my one chance to work on it. I don't mind so much, but my 105 lb. wife will not enjoy taking a stint with the clutch as it is ;-)

Thanks,
