Curious about decal replacements/source
Greeting to all!
I'm prepping for my car's repaint this month and am gathering (ordering) all new replacement decals. I seem to be finding most of them but these posted pics show this rectangular sticker at various locations around the car. It surely is VIN-related,..but where would one go to get these (if, at all)? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1354457805.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1354457818.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1354457834.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1354457849.jpg Also curious about source for stickers located on the back of the fuel door. Input is welcomed..!!!!! BEST! Doyle |
Since these are "VIN-related", I would think I may have to work this through the dealer...we'll see,..let me check my "secret" source first!

Those appear to be the anti theft deterant stickers that were mandated to go on all parts starting in about 1985

Thanks for the information Lorne. I'll be reaching out to Porsche for those, I guess. I do want them there (if at all possible), back on after the paint job......

I would be very surprised if these are still available from Porsche

Me, too.

I don't think you you will get them from Porsche as they are only for the vehicle with that ID.
you might take a few high res pictures showing the sizes and have one of the graphics companies |
Great idea LM. As I just had the VIN decal completed and man does it look great! Quite sure that company could "nail" it easily.

Doyle, check on Early S registry. I recently read a thread where someone was making them, including the punched out holes.

Doyle,
What company did you use for the VIN decal? Thanks! Dane |
Decal Restore.

Good news for those with early 70!s and SC's
Hi Doyle... Thanks for your upholstery update...Moving right along now eh!- Good stuff!
I see that Decal Restore is now making VIN decals with the security cut circles in them..I received an automated message from them today -They have posted a photo of one on their site. The detail authenticity of it looks the same as the 3.2 VIN's . A real 'big plus' for those who are restoring early '70's and SC's. ay. By the way...Have you shipped your seats to Heritage yet...Spokane? - Vancouver? Cheers |
Seats/interior go out, hopefully, this week,..to Blaine, WA. I'm shipping the carpet pieces out today. MAN, has this taken a long time.
Best! Doyle |
Hi Doyle...Yes, I would have never have guessed that so much was involved 'just' to get the right colour. I do though think that it should be smooth sailing now that the upholstery has been worked out.
Blaine WA is the Border, which is only 45 min. from Heritage in N/Vancouver. It appears that they are doing the Customs clearing and picking them up themselves which really is quite easy. Maybe 15-20 min to clear them. A happy thought:...) They are most likely already working on them - Hang in ther Doyle as 'its-a-happen'n! Take Care |

Decal Restore IS the ticket, for sure. Pro products. My VIN sticker is perfect! Can't wait to see it on a freshly painted resto!
