Heat rubber sleeve/hose

In cleaning everything up the 2 rubber sleeves (PN: 930-211-339-01)

are grimy and grungy and need to be replaced. I have checked with our host and found that they list for ~$25 each. I thought what the heck and added them to my cart.

At that time I got the dreaded message that they were special order parts and may need to be shipped from Germany (uuuuuggghhhhh....). I have tried that once before only to take a while to find out the part is NLA...

Anyway, it got me thinking. Why not use silicon turbo hose or Nomex reinforced silicon turbo hose. Not much would be needed since each sleeve/hose is only about 4"-5". I think a foot of the stuff is only $20+/ft.

Anyone tried/done this? Thanks in advance.

I've done it, it works ok. Feel fortunate you dont have a 993. Those pieces on a 993 are only sold in bulk for over $200

I considered buying new rubber sleeves until I took the old, nasty ones off and cleaned them up with some Simple Green, dish soap and an old tooth brush. They look brand new.
