Window scratches!? Did someone try to steal my 911??!

Hi Guys, I just returned from a week+ trip and decided to take my (garaged) 911 in to work this morning. As I was getting in, I noticed brand new deep horizontal scratches all along the lower inch of my driver's side window?!! WTF?!

I was really busy leading up to my trip, and did take my SC out a few times, but never noticed any scratches until this morning. Some of the trips, I had parked my car with the window slightly down (inch gap for air).

Is this something that can happen to the window if there's a problem (my electric window doesn't go down very quickly...I always have to help it.), that would cause this?

There doesn't appear to be any visible damage to the rubber at the base of the window.

Any ideas? Was this an attempted burglary?

Pictures would help but from what you describe, the scratches could be from a "slim jim" or other thin device used to slip down the window opening to try and snag the door lock shaft. Given that you've not noticed them before, that they run horizontally across the glass (eliminating a window mechanism malfunction as a cause), they fall within the area where a jimmy device would leave a mark, and that your car has been unattended, I would suspect that an attempt was made to open the door.

Re: your slow window that needs help - I had the same issue on my SC. Fixed with some graphite-type lubricant spray in the little edge track on the side of the window. I'm a targa, so there was only one edge track.
