Momo wheel spacers info????

Seasons greetings folks. Was wondering if someone could educate me on what's available out there for steering wheel spacers. I have a '73 Momo and its a bit tight on the knuckles by the dash. (shallow dish)
Are there different sizes? (depths)
Are there any little parts that usually need to be replaced once I'm in there?
Any down sides to installing one?
What about a quick release system? Would that provide a but more clearance for my fingers?

Thanks for any and all information.

You can easily buy a spacer (yes there are dif sizes) and add one or buy a new steering wheel that has more of a dish. Yes, a quick release will add up to 3 inches depending on what system you get. Do not cheap out on a QR system, in other words, stay away from the cheapo ones on ebay. But, a spacer is cheap, a QR is not.
The only downside I have found is if you have a steering wheel that has a dish, you add a QR or a spacer, now you have to reach more for the turn signal, etc.
While you are in there add the steering bushing Pelican Parts - Product Information: PEL-ML-STR-E

Ok. Great start. Any idea what the common sizes are? So a new bushing, what about the brass contact ring? Are they available for replacement? Btw I'm just guessing about the contact ring. I assume there's one in there.

I had the same issue, (too close to dash). I purchased about a 30mm Momo spacer on the used parts section of PP. It came with the longer screws and the install was easy. It was well worth the $30 bucks or what ever I paid.

Great. Any regrets with the 30mm? Wish you had more or less space? What about the dish of your wheel? Would you say its closer to flat rather than deep dish?

I bought the 1/2 inch spacer from Pelican Parts HERE, and it did exactly what I wanted. It got the wheel far enough from the dash so I didn't scrape my knuckles, BUT also not so far that the turn signal and wiper arms were a long reach. That was one thing I did really think about until it was installed.

I love it now. For me it's just perfect.

NOTE: This is with the slightly dished Momo ProtoTipo wheel.

Are you referring to this when you say brass contact ring?

Yeah, that would be it. I can remember replacing one on my VW van. It sounded like a horrible bearing noise and by the time I pulled off the wheel the ring was paper thin in most places and completely worn away in others. Fairly easy replacement.
Thanks for the link. All in all this should be a fairly economical and easy project.
Any other opinions would be appreciated. Thanks to all so far.

Jason,
No regret with the 30mm, my wheel is a flat Momo. My only issue (minor) is now the turn signal lever is further away than I'm use to. I tried to upload a pic for you but I had an issue.
