Backfire at idle

I am still trying to sort out my timing/ mixture. I only get 10 minutes or so a day rto play. I just maoved across the country and I have a 15 week old baby. My family has to be priority

I set my timing to 35deg at full advance. The car backfires once when I initially start it up. Is this too lean or rich? I haven't driven it just ran in the driveway. So I don't know how it will run under load. Just want to figure out a little at a time. I should be using the gas analyzer (friends) tomorrow. So we will see, but I am curious.

Shawn
