What year pedal cluster can I use?
 

Finding no results with various searches, I am left asking a question. I've got a '67 and after drilling out the roll pin and having one spring break, and still not being able to get the super corroded clutch pedal off the shaft to rebuild this cluster I am thinking finding another "good used" set to rebush will be more "cost effective" (time is money in my world.).

So the question is when I post a WTB in the classifieds what is the newest set of pedals that will bolt right in and work on my '67? I'm guessing 1969 because that is when the clutch design changed?

I believe your guess to be correct. Looking at the part numbers you should be good through the 69 model year. There were changes in 70 and later years. Try one of the salvage yards.

I would think that anything from 914 and 911 through 76 would give you a usable base to start from.

Matt, you may need to consider that the pedal cluster base changed for 68. in the PET pic below, 21 is up to 67 and 22 is 68-on.

Not much changed until the master cylinder moved up into the trunk compartment ('77-on ?).

Even then, the basic mounting platform is the same. Exceptions:

- Part no. 22 has a bracket for a mechanical brake light switch (#72). Later versions use hydraulic brake light switch on the master cylinder. The mechanical switch is more reliable and can be adjusted.

- Other pedal assys. (later) have an external clutch pedal return spring on the left side of the bracket

- Same mount on later vehicles with master cylinder in the trunk, but the holes for MC mount and pushrod deleted.

So pull style clutch makes no difference? This is good to know. Finding a '74 set of pedals will be much easier than finding a '66 set. Now if I just hadn't given away that '66 roller that now resides in Magnus' "junkyard" for parts I would have all the spares I need. Hindsight is always 20/20.

We have just had some laser cuts made and have odered bar stiock of the correct size and in the early New Year will have a batch on new pedal shafts ready.

The pull or the push is accomplished at the end of the clutch cable and associated linkage. Pedal actuation and shaft are the same in all cases (with the exception of hydraulic systems in G50-equipped 911s.

Remember that the mech. brake light switch bracket is deleted on later pedal assemblies. Will have to fashion an equivalent actuation link. I'd suggest that over the relatively high-maintenance hydraulic switches used on SCs and later.
