Door Lock Alarm Flashing red light
My 89 has the factory alarm that makes the door locks flash red on the top of them when the alarm is on (ie locking the doors with the key).
Ever since I bought the car in 95, the passenger one flashed and the drivers did not. I just recently replaced the door locks with some new ones and I was thinking that it would solve the problem. However it did not. There are no wires connected to the lock that screws on the metal post. Does anyone know what could be causeing the drivers side to not work? Thanks

The wires that make the stem light blink go to the collar which the lock stem goes through that is attached to the top trim piece of the door. The stem light is energized when the it is lowered in the lock position.
If you remove the long top trim piece and turn it over, you'll see two wires going to the collar. Make sure these are connected and in tact. Not sure what else would cause the stem not to light, unless the LED in the stem is bad. LEDs are very reliable and long lasting, so my bet is on the wiring or power source.

GeorgeM - I think your diagnosis is correct. These are new stems and both work on the passenger side but not on the drivers.
Any advice on how difficult it is to get that top plastic piece off? I have the power mirrors too and there is a knob for that on the drivers side as well. I hope the wires have not fallen down too deep in the door. Thanks for the wiring information.
