Hello All,
New owner of a 73.5 T and am working out my turn signal issues. Rear lights all work fine - but when I received the car only the right front blinker worked. I thought I'd put new bulbs in for the first try. The car had sylvania #1157 dual element bulbs. The parts store showed I should have #1156 single element bulbs. These bulbs have one contact point on the base and a different "nub" layout. After placing these in I now have neither front signal. Should my single element bulb have two contact points as my housings have two contacts in them, or are these truly the correct bulb? My park lights work fine, but no blinker. Thanks for your help - I'd love to learn to drive my car without having to fling my arm out the window to signal each turn! Jeff |

let there be lite
Most Porsche bulb sockets have either one or two tabs...one tab one element and two tab two elements. If very carefully you pry up towards the top of socket with the tabs(closer to you) the copper tab will make contact with bulb. On a road trip thru Montana on a sunday I have pinched the lead spots on the bulbs, to bring to a point, and replaced bulb with success. Also check and clean the appropriate fuses and their holding tabs. Finally I have undone the screw holing the power and grounding wire and reinserted them and retightened and had success. Finally the brown wires throughout your car are body/chassis grounds and by unscrewing them and refastening they will give you a better ground. Think "Mr Clean" and good luck

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I'll be cleaning up the housings this weekend and will re-seat the dual element bulbs. I was a bit confused as even the pelican website showed a single element bulb for my year car but my housing has two contacts. Jeff |

Jeff did you ever get a chance to use a multimeter or test light to check for power going to the lights?

Hey Shawn,
I did use a test light and found current. It seems like maybe my issue is with the single element bulbs. My housing has two contact plates so the contact on the bottom of the single element bulb sort of sits right between the two contacts, where as the two element bulbs seem to match up. What's odd is that all the parts guides point to a single element bulb for my car? It's a rainy weekend here so I plan on taking the assembly out on each side and cleaning up all the parts. Thanks again for your help and advice - I hope to get this whipped over the weekend. Jeff |

That is weird that it is a two filament bulb, I am assuming one is for the park lights and the other is for signals? As for the bulbs there are two little nipples on the base part. These hold the bulb in. Look in the recess on the housing, see if the recesses channels are the same or if one sits deeper than the other. My guess is that one is deeper and I would also guess that the bulb will be the 1157.
