At what price would this 2.0S be a good deal?
your thoughts and opinions on an engine that has been sitting for nearly 2 decades.

Where the heck is fair oaks? Hard to tell much from the pics, other than it looks good, looks clean. IF I were interested, it might be worth paying a trusted mechanic to go take a look? Sort of an "engine only" PPI?

These engines really aren't worth too much, except for vintage racing. The 2.0L heads have a steep angle, and that creates a tight combustion chamber. This creates a real peaky engine that is not the best solution...

Bob? Were you thinking of using this engine in your '68 911L?

I saw that one too, and it looks like it might be a nice option to drop in while building up a new motor, but then again seals that haven't had any lubrication for 20 years are likely to be pretty hardened and have to be replaced to avoid a fountain of oil. However if the price is right, and you do the work yourself it still might make a good 'backup' motor. Or if I wanted to go vintage racing, the correct motor for my car.

i don't know what i'm going to do. i'd install a 2.0S for being period correct and performance or install a 2.7S for being cost effective. 3.0+ would be out of the question as that would lead to upgrading everything else.
i don't have plans to track the car. she's just a "spirited street driver" that likes to tend the R Gruppe meetings - actually until i get that tranny sent out (this weekend)- my nissan shows up at the meetings instead. wayne - what would you suggest? btw, thanks for a great book. you saved me some major cash when i refurbished my entire susp. plus your book will be in the garage this weeknd as i plan to pull the engine/tranny for the first time. you gotta be on several porsche repair shops hit list. bob ps robert how is your '68 project progressng? It's Fair Oaks, CA, judging by his other ad. That was my home until I moved to SD for college. Should I have my brother pick it up?
