Tight space in trunk.
Hi everybody, while changing the Porsche battery, I found out that the fan next to the battery was completly uninstalled.
When I tried installing the battery and reinstaling the fan I just can't seem to fit both. It's just too tight. I don't know if the fan was remove for the same reason from the previous owner. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/12/14/e8ygu4ud.jpg Any ideas? Thank you in advance. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
it's the front a/c condenser fan, if you don't have a working a/c, you can remove it. But, the correct battery should fit in there no problem, looks kinda wide.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I do have a working ac The battery was suggested by napa cars. And the old battery was also this big. The bat holder seem to fit correctly with the size. Should of gone with a smaller odyssey bat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
I had one of those monsters in my car when I purchased it this spring. That battery now cranks my boat. Replaced it with a much smaller Optima. That's what the factory shipped them with and I'd bet that's the size that's in NAPA's computer.
I found you can get that large battery in and out without removing the condenser blower but you have to think like a contortionist. Remove both leads. Pull up the front end and twist slide it over toward the fuel tank, then pull it out. I did it a couple of times then just started pulling the blower (four screws). The plastic on my blower is so brittle I didn't even want to bump it. ETA There is a second threaded hole for the hold down a couple inches back from the one you are using now. Search here should turn up the correct smaller battery to allow the use of the second hold down hole. J |
take that monster back, no need for something so huge. take a look at this thread.

A little off topic (and I apoligize) but has anyone had problems with the front condensor blower assembly not fitting correctly around the cutout? It is not making contact with the battery but instead is hitting the fuel tank. Are there different blower configurations?
Thanks for any feedback! |
