How to fix Targa roof problem???
In an effort to seal up my Targa this past weekend I managed to break off the driver's side front locating pin. Both the pin and the nut plate will need replacing. How do you gain access to the nut plate? Do you have to remove the outer vinyl skin to get to it? I don't want to do more damage than I've already done!:(

I would suggest contacting Dan at carsinc. He is very helpful even just for tips and hints.

Are sure you need to replace the nut plate? I did something similiar and just drilled out the end of the locating pin left in the nut plate and then retapped the the threaded hole. Shouldn't have to do more unless you dramatically bent the nutplate getting the locating pin out. Hope this helps!

Those pins are aluminum, so damage to the plate should be minimal, and extricating the broken one shouldn't be too difficult!

I actually did think of drilling out and re-tapping the nut plate, but at first glance, the nut plate appears to be aluminum also. I guess it would be OK, but I'm just planning for a "worst case scenario".
